ABSTRACT:

A description of an implementation of trellis coded quantization of
memoryless sources on dedicated digital signal processing hardware is
provided.  The effect of the depth of the trellis search and the number of
released symbols on the encoding delay, implementation complexity, and
mean-square error encoding performance is also described.
